A new house, modifications, a new image, changes in your life… Whatever the reason is, don’t let your doubts distort the way you want to do it. That’s why today I’ll give you some advice in order to help you on your path to decorate your wall with art and make it perfect.
Of course, it’s not an easy task. Not only by putting things there and there on the wall is going to make it look good. First, you should study a little the environment, the style and be clear that it may take you a little longer than you thought because you may make more changes than you imagined until you find the perfect composition for you. Something I used to do it’s to look for ideas on Pinterest. By doing that, I always find cool ideas to put into practice. So, always consider looking for inspiration.
Below, I’ll share with you a pathway that will help you to consider the style and the composition you want. This pathway will provide essentials to fill a wall with illustrations and make it perfect.
Choose the location for the WALL ART PRINTS
The first thing we have to be clear about, it is: which is the best location for the wall art prints? . In order to do this, we have to find a space on a continuous wall (and, if possible, it has to be a single-color wall). I would suggest avoiding walls that have wallpapers on it or those which are painted with different colors. I’m not saying you have to look for a white wall, but it should have a uniform tone.
In addition, if you have a sideboard or furniture underneath, it is preferable that it is not full of figures or books, but rather than that should be something more linear or plain without many “junks”. We want our prints to have the leading role and not the furniture decoration.
Otherwise, if you want a flashy and strident wall, the best idea is combining them with wallpaper and porcelain.
Choose the appropriate PRINTS
One of the most important things is not to break the design line. To make it look better and more innovative, we can alternate predominant colors and mix light and dark colors, but we must not lose sight of the main style.
Mix colors, shapes and textures among them, but follow a similar design line. If you prefer a pop style, I would suggest you to get focus on every single one of the that has any reference to this style without all being the same or of the same colors.
Pop wall art is not only character illustrations, the thematic specifically represents the daily life, daily stuff. Besides, they define a style, and they make to a way of seeing the art and the world. This kind of art say a lot about people who choose it, the same with those who create it. Personally, is the one I like the most and with the one I feel myself identified.
I don’t stop creating prints related with the daily life because you can find the art in those little things. It is not necessary to have big works of art for having a home full of art.
To be able to give the size and shape you want to the wall art prints to make it perfect, I recommend you to buy digital art to be able to print it in different sizes. You can visit my Etsy shop and take a look at all my prints for printing that I offer you (And you saved the money and time for the delivery)
Another style that I like is the eclectic, on this way you can mix different styles of illustrations, but with harmony. You can mix modern prints with any other vintage one, one picture… It sure looks great!
Be careful with the frames
How are you going to hang up your wall art prints? If you thought to hang them up in different frames, you had an amazing idea.
But be careful with the frames you choose because sometimes we want to give more texture to the illustration and chose a striking and large frame, with lots of flourishes and ornaments which in the end ended up taking away the charm of the work. Look carefully with the colors you choose, the size and especially, the inclination it’s going to have. If you put too big frames in the ends, they can throw the design out of balance. But if you put them too centered, the sides will require an extra effort to be seen.
I recommend doing tests before hanging them permanently until we achieve the composition that we like the most.
Textures and shapes
Do not focus on unifying the illustrations to the maximum because the most beautiful thing is to play with the textures. Make compositions and tests following a pattern, improvising a mosaic, alternating figure and landscape, and frame texture, color and shape … Do not choose all wall art prints horizontally or vertically, play with these options.
In short, you are creating an art space, and you have to like it first, so you are the one who knows what kind of shapes fit better.
The key to choose the correct composition
Advice to avoid making unnecessary gaps on the wall is to put all the paintings on the floor and make different combinations, putting them from side to side until you find the best balance in the combination.
You also can take photos to the different combinations and then choose the one you like the most, this would help you as guide for when you put them permanently on the wall.
